Better Food For Better Health

Each of our recipes are formulated with one goal and that is to promote holistic pet health from the inside out. When your dog or cat eats a higher quality diet that contains more of the good and less of the bad, it oftentimes results in reduced feeding amounts, decreased veterinarian visits and just an overall healthier, happier pet!

Since inception, Dr. Gary has focused on skin and coat health by using lots of omega-3 fatty acids from high quality sources such as fish oils and flax seed. The nutritional integrity of these important nutrients is then protected from light and air by high barrier packaging. Omega-3s are balanced with Omega-6s for optimal performance.

Highly digestible sources of protein from meat is critical for lean muscle regeneration. Our foods are balanced with more than enough meat protein required to supply the essential amino acids needed for healthy muscle development. We only use the highest quality sources available, including chicken, salmon, whitefish, lamb and eggs.

A current trend in the pet food industry is to focus formulations and marketing on meat and protein, while making the blurry argument that your best buddy currently lying next to you on the sofa is a generation removed from the wolf you saw at the zoo last weekend. While meat protein, especially high quality meat protein, is critical for good pet health, fats play just as important of a role. They supply omega fatty acids that are critical in helping maintain a pet’s massive amount of hair. While excess protein not used for supplying amino acids does provide energy, it must be broken down by the kidneys and then converted to energy. Fats like fish oil, sunflower oil, canola oil and chicken fat provide an efficient and more direct source of energy and stamina.

Energy and stamina also come from carbohydrates. Our foods do not contain corn, soy or wheat, instead we use healthy, whole grains like oats, barley and brown rice. Further, we prefer grain-alternative ingredients like blueberries, green peas, chick peas and lentils that are healthier options to potatoes.

Studies have shown that about 50% of dogs over the age of eight start to develop arthritis in their joints. All of our formulas contain significant amounts of naturally-derived glucosamine.

The immune system begins in the GI tract making stomach and intestinal health critical for holistic pet health. Recognizing this, we formulate our foods using sources of fiber with pre- and pro-biotic characteristics that synergistically work together to feed good bacteria in the stomach and intestines. Using the correct level and combinations of fiber also keeps food moving through the GI tract at more healthful rate, leading to solid and consistent stool.
