Nearly every Best Breed recipe includes New Zealand Green Mussels as part of our approach to purposeful nutrition. What does “EU-approved ingredients” mean, and why does it matter?

Because some Best Breed formulas are exported to the European Union, we use EU-approved ingredients where applicable – one of the strictest sourcing standards in the world. In practice, this means ingredients used in our food must come from sources approved for the human-consumption supply chain before processing. For example, if a fish is rejected for human consumption, it cannot be used to make Best Breed’s EU-approved fish meal – it is diverted to the animal-grade supply chain instead. This does not mean Best Breed kibble is human grade. But it does mean the source ingredients meet a higher standard before processing.

No chicken

We had a dog, Bagel, who couldn't tolerate chicken. We started him on this, and it worked great. We continued with the same food because it makes their coats soft. The girls like it just as Bagel did. You should also stay with grains unless a vet tells you otherwise.

I thought I'd give this a try, but I was disappointed when I read the ingredients more closely and realized it wasn't grain-free. Bummer, since I'd already mixed it into our dogs' regular food. Won't order it again, and here I thought I'd found a replacement for Fromm.

Convenient Dog Food Delivery

Quality food, but not for my picky dog

This is obviously a quality product, though a little pricey. I was searching for a replacement for our last dog food and spent several days reading labels and websites before choosing Dr. Gary's. Unfortunately, I bought lamb instead of salmon, and my picky dog wouldn't touch it. Our Boxer ate it up, but she eats anything. I tried a small bag of the salmon recipe, and that gets rave reviews. I'd recommend the brand, although the kibble is quite small. I'm still stuck with about 30 pounds of lamb.
